500 Gms Prawn / shrimp Medium size prawns
For PasteSpice
2 No Onion
1 No Green Chilli / Chili pepper cut
6 No Garlic Chopped fine
1 Teaspoon Ginger Paste
10 No Curry Leaf Sprigs fresh
2 Teaspoon Coriander Powder Dhania
For Marinade
0.5 Teaspoon Chilli powder
0.5 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 Teaspoon Vinegar or You can take Lime juice
2 No Onion Chopped very fine
1 No Tomato Large chopped small
0.25 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder Haldi
2 Teaspoon Chilli powder To taste
5 Teaspoon Mustard Oil For frying
1 Teaspoon Sugar
10 No Curry Leaf
0.5 Teaspoon Lime/Lime juice/Lemon
To taste Salt To taste

Prawns Masala Recipe is spicy, hot and tangy. This is my version of Prawns Masala Recipe. Looking forward to make these with different ingredients like fish or chicken. We love to eat this recipe with rice ,Rasam and salad.

The ingredients which goes in making this prawns masala recipe could be easily found in your kitchen. Also there is no need of making any advance preparation. Just a word of caution this is very spicy as have used lots of red chilies and garam masala. If you like it less spicy just reduce the amount of chilies and the dish should be fine. I have used a dash of vinegar but you could use lime juice instead.

Clean & Marinate prawns

Clean prawns & Marinate prawns with ginger-garlic paste, vinegar and salt for 10-15 mins.

Prepare Masala paste and Cut onion,tomato, green chilli and other Spice

In time of marinate prawns cut as of instructions and prepare masala paste.

Boil two onion and both variety of red chilies in water for 5-7 mins. Allow to cool and peel off the onion skin and chop them.
Take 1 teaspoon oil in a non stick vessel / pan and saute all the ingredients for the paste. Saute until they start leaving aroma.
Combine fried spices, boiled onion paste into a grinder.
Grind until all blends well add little water if required.
The paste should be smooth and thick.

Prawns Masala

Take the non stick pan add oil. Once oil is hot the grounded paste.Put sugar and Chopped onion,curry leaf and fry up to turned little brown.
Then add red chilli powder and little(Pinch) of Turmeric and fry for 10 to 15 second.Add tomato and try to dry tomato
Add the Mixture in pan, Cover the mixture and allow to cook on medium heat. Fry for 3-4 mins or until the paste starts leaving the edges of the pan. Be careful not to burn the mixture.
Add rest of turmeric powder.
Time to add the marinated prawns, salt.
Mix all nicely and cook uncovered until the mixture gets dry and starts leaving oil around the edges.
Switch off the gas or cooktop.
Squeeze some lime juice and serve the Prawn Masala/Chingudi Masala hot with rice / roti,Dal,Rasam .
